I read The Clockwork Muse by Eviatar Zerubavel this week. Large swaths of the book deal with writing routines and making habitual time for writing. But I read it while flying home from vacation, my sleeping child nestled in the crook of one arm.
I would like to have more consistent routines right now, but like many folks, my summer is wonderfully full of travels and visits from out-of-town friends. I'm trying to embrace this season for what it is—a richer time with family and friends, a time to absorb new ideas and experiences on travels, a time to recharge.
So I'm going to take July and August off from writing about writing. I'll be back in September, hopefully full of new ideas and ready for a routine again!
