I think I’m not the only one who misses making music with other people in person. Yes I’m an organist and used to lonely hours of practice – but all solo and no group music is like all winter and no Christmas.
So with actual Christmas on the horizon, I’ve decided to plan a musical November. I love a project to get going in a good direction. I’m hoping this one will help me out of the musical slump I’ve been in for a while. Want to join in?
Here are some of my ideas:
- Memorize a song
- Restart virtual voice lessons (actually got a early start last week!)
- Get my piano tuned
- Make five playlists – I’m thinking different moods like “upbeat Saturday morning and “mellow instrumental” plus one or two for Christmas
On the church ministry side of my life, here are my plans:
- Explore choral and handbell music so I can spend out my church’s sheet music budget (an act of hope for a better 2021!)
- Film some organ music videos
- Record and edit Advent and Christmas music
What do you think? Do projects like this work for you and your personality?
